Happy World Book Day.

Speaking of books, if you find yourself in a charity shop and you see a book with "The Number 23" as it's title, don't buy it and give it to your husband or really stupid unconnected things will happen to you while ominous music plays. And everyone will get freaked out due to the fact that they're all SHIT AT MATHS.

Mood: happy

Good morning.

I noticed earlier that the black and white striped shirt I was wearing had a stain on it. Not a dribble of a stain from morning tea, but a long strip of a mysterious orangey colour. "This is highly noticable and probably not too professional looking" I thought while ignoring customers in favour of trying to burp "yer maw".

"Is this stain notceable?"
"Fuck sake, that wasn't there when you left the house was it?"
"Must have been... A bit of bleach will fix it though"
"Don't be mental, you'll bleach the black out of it"

I'll show him!

It turns out industrial strength bleach reacts differently to stains than the toilet cleaner I once used to clean my black and white dress. I managed to get into the bathroom and get my shirt off before the bleach had time to corrode my skin to scarring levels but there was still the matter of my now soaking white and burnt-orangey-yellow-in-patches striped shirt. People had started to queue outside the bathroom.

A couple of months ago in work someone accidently ordered fabric pens which turned out to be incredibly handy once I had scampered out the toilets with a still damp shirt on. After a few minutes of hiding in the corner, colouring in (careful to stay in the lines) I look brand new. I think it's probably the last time I wear this shirt though.

Mmmmm, I've been in a really good mood for a few days now. Very little sleep but still ridiculously hyperactive ... Ace, we just had a fire drill. That was fun.

Okay I'm going to go do work and all that malarkey.

I'm so cold, why is it getting lighter but colder? Rubbish.

I spent my last week in the caravan oop northerly. It was cold there also, however there is a significantly higher ratio of blankets to me in the caravan than there are at work and the west coast of scotland seems to be the only place it didn't snow on this week, so mitten covered thumbs up all round. I haven't slept that well in ages.

Lots of pictures (mainly of horses since the camera ran out on the second day) which your bored wee eyes may peruse upon once I've found the lead for my camera, and put it on a flash drive, and taken it to work and... ) Computers, yey; interweb absence, boo.

KINGS OF LEON? How did I miss the fact tickets were going on sale today?!! Piss flaps.

Well, todays entry took 6 hours, 36 minutes. I'm going home ... or bowling ...

I want to go to New York. Yeah, summer there is good and all - but winter! All snowy and dark. Drunkenly trying to build snowmen and then realising you're in the middle of an avenue and it's kinda trafficky.
Must make plans.
No one else seems too keen on the idea though... As appealing as running away to New York on my own sounds, I think after a few days the novelty would wear off and I'd fancy having some people to help build the snowman.

Also, how do you change your wee mood icon things on livejournal? And is it possible to steal someone elses?

Ok, so it's the rescheduled party de la one year in the flat, fully weekendified for your intoxicated pleasure.

Guest of honour will include Rachmaninov, Queen Margot and various other lidl own brand tipples (Gim, Vodma, Run, Whisley etc.). I may even attempt to make my own cocktails.

People are heading over about 10ish and if you don't know where the flat is then geez a buzz on the usual hotline(07875719903)

The handbags and the gladrags
That your poor old Grandad had to sweat to buy you

Doesn't this mean that the grandad in the situation physically sweated handbags and gladrags in order to purchase his grandson/daughter?

I suppose The handbags and the gladrags for which your poor old grandad had to sweat to buy you doesn't have quite the same ring to it.

Mood: mellow

Things I miss;
- being unemployed
- road trips
- benders
- my computer

Things are a lot calmer these days but it's really quite boring at times. I really missed having a big long holiday this year. And how come before I used to fit work round going out whereas now it's the other way round?

I think I might drag someone down to Oxenholme with me for a day soon - £2 return on the megatrain. Just call in sick, hang out in the lake district for a day, come home (drink tea). why yes, it's an excellent plan.

Mum and dad are getting me to house sit for them this weekend. I really don't mind (mum even made me dinner, bless her cotton socks) but I get so little time on my own these days, I wish I could spend it at home instead of over at theirs. And she was harping on about how she doesn't see me enough - she needs to get some hobbies the lazy jobless bum that she is.

Things I'm looking forward to;
- Manchester weekend away
- Art Brut (possibly supported by Spinto band, woop woop)
- FIREWORKS NIGHT!!!!!!!!!! Ooooh, I'd forgotten about that. Fake baileys and hot chocolate, mmmm.

Subject:To the people coming over on Friday...

Sorry everyone but it look's like we're taking a raincheck on Friday's doo. Rhiannon just found out her gran's not well and so she's going down to Wales. We'll reschedule no doubt so keep your eyes peeled, ear to the ground and all that malarkey. Sorry if we messed up your weekend a bit but I'm sure you'll all understand being the nice chaps and chapettes that you are.

We're having a PARTY!

This Friday (6th) to celebrate Rhiannon having been in Glasgowshire for a whole year. And also, because Christmas is kinda far away and it's getting really dark.

Doors open at 8ish and naturally it's at our flat.
If you don't know where that is then geez a buzz - 07875719903.

I'll do a fancy flyer thing tomorrow to make it look more official.

Why does no one question "The Milky Way" as a term for our galaxy and as a kids choclate bar.
Milky Way
Milk-y Way
Mill Key Whey
The way of milk?
The. Milky Way.
The Milky. Way.
There are lots of Ways, this is one of the milkiest.
You don't get very many Ways that are this milky.
Lots of things are milky, including *points* this Way.

If the river was whisky and I was a duck,
I’d dive to the bottom and never come up

Oh tell me how long, have I got to wait?
Can I get you now, or I must I hesitate?

I was born in Alabama, raised in Tennessee
If you don’t like my peaches, don’t shake my tree

I looked down the road, just as far as I can see
A woman had my man and the blues had me

Got the hesitating stockings, the hesitating shoes
Believe to my soul I’ve got the hesitating blues

*strums guitar and swings back and forth on the rocking chair on the porch* Chew on ma wheat with my bourbon decayed pearlies and wait for the men folk to saunter into town ... The shotgun's looking a bit too tempting now. You ain't from round here are you boy? Ooop, looks like we got ourselves a reader.

Floorboards creaking under the rocking chair now and the guitar's loosing it's tuning as the days weather trundles by.

In the Big Rock Candy Mountain
You never change your socks
And little streams of alcohol
Come trickling down the rocks
O the shacks all have to tip their hats
And the railway bulls are blind
There's a lake of stew
And whisky too
And you can paddle
All around it in a big canoe
In the Big Rock Candy Mountain

Subject:tell me what you do. nothing. me too.

I haven't slept in days. You know when you decend into that weird kinda acetate world and everythings a bit strange and you can feel your brain kind of flickering on and off when someone's talking to you.

A customer came in today (see, weird insomnia world - i just typed 'a customer came into day') to get poems copied and laminated. I'll give you some hightlights ...

My first waking thought as each day dawns,
Is "When shall I have my plate of prawns?" ...
...And I need no second invitation,
To demolish a mound of that small pink crustacean

To a prawn, aug 1996

That airy rock overlooks a scene, where once a swimming pool has been
Istand and gaze down at that pool. Deserted now! But once so full"

Headland Wind, 2006

But from here I've decided to avoid, each intellectual broadsheet or tabloid,
And do something sifferent with my time, sleep perhaps?

Newspapers, November 2003

Of course fish are aware of many dangers,
mostly from other swimming strangers.
Big fish see small ones as their prey
and expect to munch a few each day.

Roger suggested that she should concentrate more on sewing or dying and so ...
sleep perhaps?...
A pillow placed upon my head
Newspapers read 'Old Lady found dead'

I need a drink. Just over an hour til I'm done here then I'm going to pub crawl it back to my flat, grab a book and pub crawl it back into town but with more things to focus on and less of an ability to do so.

Despite intimidation, used to watch you dance along.

The strokes are ... oh sigh oh my. Heart in a cage as the next single - looking forward to the dancing, worried about the overplay. Red Light being my beau of the mo' - Julian tinted glasses jolly good way to think of love.

I think I know what you mean but watch what you say...

Bloody marvelous.
